Example - 'Me and Mandy' visual effects shots
Software used: pfTrack, 3ds Max, After Effects, Photoshop
This music video promo required replacing the face of a bearded lizard with that of one of Example's musicians for 3 shots. I did this first by camera tracking the motion of the camera footage to recreate a virtual camera to use in 3DS Max, then focused on the motion of the lizards head in order to give tracking points that a model could follow.
This motion data was then imported into 3ds Max and footage of the band members head, shot against a green screen, was used as a material and placed on the 3d model. This enabled the face to move in time with the motions of the shot and gave a great deal of control of the materials of the human head and how they blended into the background.
The video won best budget video at the UK Music video awards in 2008.
