Games FX Artist & Animator
Working with Surface 3D and Sumo Digital, James helped create environmental particle effects and VFX around the tracks in Sega’s sequel to the successful Sonic & All-Stars Racing.
Using Sumo Digital’s proprietary editor software, many of the VFX and particle systems had to be created from the ground up, requiring a bespoke setup and involved developing various styles, including water spray, explosions, confetti, fire and smoke.
These were then iterated, tweaked and optimised so not to impact frame rate in the final build.
Software Used: Proprietrary software, Photoshop.
